Happiness of Nature
8-14 June 2021 | Samobor, CroatiaThe main goal of this project was to connect young people with nature by developing their personal competencies and practical skills through meaningful outdoor experiences. The project support the participants in finding and setting their own boundaries, using nature as a resource to launch new ideas, increasing their motivation as well as building physical and mental strength.
About the project
The ERASMUS + KA1 Youth Exchange Project ”Happiness of Nature” took place in Samobor, Croatia.
The project involved 4 different countries (Croatia, Greece, Portugal and Romania).
From the beginning, all participants were extremely motivated and happy with the topic of the project, especially because the previous year was extremely difficult for everyone and left consequences. For many, this was the first exchange after quarantine and for that reason, it was a challenge for them at a glance. Given the overall situation, all activities were in line with epidemiological measures especially as they took place outdoors.
What this project meant for us?
Connecting with nature
Awareness about the natural environment
Friendships & Cultural awareness
Activities & Methodes
The project awakened the positive feelings of the participants as well as encouraged them to think outside the box. Participants learned how to find a measure in the use of technology, and direct it in the right way.
Throughout the project, mobile phones were used as little as possible, being used just for the purpose of recording video material that will be used to disseminate the results of the project. The project improved the learning success of the participants, increased their sense of initiative and entrepreneurship, as well as self-empowerment and self-esteem. Furthermore, their foreign language competences, intercultural awareness and motivation to participate in future education and training were increased.
The Romanian team had the task to design their workshop together, the topic of which was meteorology, they touched on the important facts we need to know about the weather and how important it is to research the weather conditions well before each stay in nature. After the theoretical lecture, they devised an interactive game for all of us, how to show some of the weather with a pantomime.
On this project, we hiked, got to know nature, and made shelters. This project contributed to participants getting out of their comfort zone, learning and researching about orientation and hiking.
The participants became very close and every day they had fun with each other, shared their life experiences and performed all the assigned activities together. Each day began with motivation and impatience to discover which activity was to follow, and ended with laughter, song, guitar, and new experiences and friendships.
The project „Happiness of nature” was financed with the support of the European Commission through Erasmus+ Programme. This blog reflects only the author’s views, and the Commission cannot be held responsible for any use which may be made of the information contained therein.
