Launching the Empowering Youth Workers to Drive Climate Action Project

We are excited to officially launch the Empowering Youth Workers to Drive Climate Action project, an initiative designed to equip youth workers across Romania and Greece with the necessary tools, resources, and knowledge to educate and inspire young people to take climate action.

This project is focused on using non-formal education as a powerful tool to increase youth awareness and involvement in climate change mitigation. Through this, we aim to empower youth workers, so they can effectively guide and support young people in taking action on the environmental challenges facing our communities.

Project Objectives:

  • Increase Knowledge on Climate Change: Equip youth workers with up-to-date, accurate information about the causes and solutions to climate change, empowering them to engage and educate young people.
  • Build Capacity of Youth Workers: Provide youth workers with practical tools, skills, and resources to design and implement impactful non-formal education activities on climate change.
  • Foster Youth-Led Climate Initiatives: Inspire and support young people, through guidance from youth workers, to lead climate action projects in their communities.
  • Raise Community Engagement: Promote local involvement by raising awareness about climate change through community-based activities led by youth workers and young people.

Activities:

1. Field and Desk Research: We will conduct in-depth research with youth workers to understand the challenges they face in teaching climate action and gather best practices to inform future education tools.

2. Workshops and Focus Groups: Youth workers will participate in hands-on workshops and focus groups, where they will explore strategies for climate action and share insights on how to engage young people using non-formal education techniques.

3. Platform Development: As part of the project, we are creating a digital platform that will provide youth workers with accessible resources, including educational games, videos, and toolkits to facilitate non-formal education on climate change.

4. Community-Based Projects: The project will culminate in youth-led initiatives designed to address local environmental challenges, with support from youth workers trained through the project.

Why does this this matters:

Climate change is a global issue, and young people are at the forefront of creating the solutions we need. By empowering youth workers with the knowledge and resources to inspire youth, this project contributes to a broader movement toward sustainability and environmental awareness.
