About the Project

 

Studies focused on the influence of social networks on young people increasingly point to the inability of young people to distinguish the risks of unconscious use of social media (personal data processing, loss of intimacy, social manipulation, etc.), lowering the level of self-confidence, anxiety, depression, considerable reduction of time allocated to sleep and study, tiredness, difficulties to adapt to daily life, feelings of worry and stress, disinterest in school and education, etc. Social Media Inner Light Embodiment (SMILE) is an Erasmus+ Youth Exchange that gathers 35 participants from Turkey, Romania, France, Greece, Spain, Austria and Lithuania in Istanbul, Turkey between 15 May – 24 May 2020, in order to reduce the negative influence of social media on young people.

Participant’s profile:

  • Has between 18 and 30 years old
  • Has Romanian Nationality or Residency
  • At the time of the event, the participant does NOT benefit from any other type of Erasmus + financing, i.e. is not an EVS / ESC volunteer or an Erasmus scholarship student
  • Is motivated to participate in this youth exchange and are interested in the proposed topic
  • Present desire for civic and involvement
  • Is open to diversity and interculturality
  • Assume that they will share with others the knowledge, attitudes and abilities learned, and that they will be actively involved in all stages of the project

Group Leader:

  • No age limit
  • Has interpersonal and communication skills, team spirit, strategic thinking oriented to results
  • Promotes a positive attitude at the group level
  • Has coordination, planning and organization skills
  • Is proficient in English
  • Have experience in volunteering, non-formal education and youth
  • Promote active engagement and teamwork
  • Have competences to evaluate the learning process of young people

In the process of selection will prevail:

  • Fitting in the participants’ profile
  • Young volunteers of the partner NGOs and members of the communities in which the partners work will have priority
  • Motivation and desire to participate
  • Gender balance
  • Priority will be given to young people who have not participated in the Erasmus + program until now

Deadline to apply: 15 March 2020

Number: 4 participants + 1 group leader (18+ years old)

The selection results will be sent by email to all candidates at the latest 21 March 2020.

Costs:

1. The participation costs (accommodation, food, materials etc.) will be covered by the organisers. Also, the transportation will be reimbursed in the limit of 275 euro/participant.

2. The selected candidates must advance the amounts necessary to cover the transport costs to the place of the course, using the cheapest means of transportation: flight ticket (economy class, low cost), train ticket (2nd class), bus etc.

3. An amount of 25 euro will be perceived by the sending organisation as a co-financing of the participant to the project.
